Community Service Background

King is also president of Phoenix-based Fastdogs-Fastfriends Greyhound Adoption, where he started the 2nd Chance at Life program in Arizona. This program matches retired greyhounds with inmates at the Saguaro Correctional Center in Eloy, AZ. A volunteer professional dog trainer teaches specially selected inmates how to become dog trainers so they have a marketable skill after they are released. The inmates provide the greyhounds 9 weeks of training while living in their cell with them, and in turn the greyhounds give back to the inmates the unconditional love they so desperately need. For many of them, they are receiving this love for the first times in their lives. Saving lives and healing spirits…that’s what this program is all about.

Other Leading Efforts

King also leads a small group of individuals looking for scripture-based spiritual growth in their lives. His leadership was acknowledged by  the pastor’s hand-picking him, and recording a video of his experiences as a small group leader to be broadcast to more than 8,000 members of his church’s congregation.

King has also volunteered his financial expertise to those in need. Having been a son of an accountant and CFO, (Chief Financial Officer), and being a Dave Ramsey “Financial Peace University” facilitator,  he has been around financial discussions all his life and was balancing his bank statements with Quicken since he was only 16. This has allowed him to actively reach out to those in need to help with behavioral financial problems.

Extra Curricular Activities

In his spare time, King enjoys playing the saxophone while touring the United States with the national award-winning band, Cousin Affect. In addition to winning a national song competition held by Midas and Spin magazine, they have won the 2010 Battle of the Bands in Arizona held in Safford, AZ and the 2009 “Live Performer of the Year” from the Phoenix Music Awards.

Cousin Affect offers an alternative to a pop culture which has seen a recent and significant presence of negativity. Working closely with many inner-city kids in Phoenix has given them firsthand experience with the lives they hope to affect. Cousin Affect is working to send a new message: one that is centered around giving, in all its forms, from community service to simply giving your heart to whomever you meet in your daily life.

Dan also keeps physically fit by cycling, kayaking, running, rollerblading, and has graduated from the extreme workout program “P90X.” He also won 1st place in his age group at the Sun City Triathlon.

Family Life

King resides in Gilbert, Arizona, and is newly married to his wife, Denise. She is an avid supporter of Dan’s interests and activities, and is his most treasured companion in every aspect of his life.
